MALAYSIAN SHORTS FOC

Kelab Seni Filem Malaysia presents MALAYSIAN SHORTS curated by Amir Muhammad
Time : Monday. 28 March 2005. 8pm.
Venue : HELP Institute Auditorium, Pusat Bandar Damansara, KL.
Admission: FREE!

The highly popular Malaysian Shorts series rides again! This time presenting 12 shorts in slightly less than 2 hours. Ask questions to the directors, and then vote for your 3 favourite shorts of the night! The session will be hosted by "Shortcuts" compere Fahmi Fadzil.

LINE-UP:

1) Three Lives (Woo Ming Jin/USA/2003/13 min)
This is the local premiere of an American short by the award-winning Malaysian director. Jake wakes up by a sidewalk and finds his girlfriend kidnapped. He has three chances to save her by locating a mysterious box. This is a live action “video game’!

2) BROKEN WINGS (Wickneswaren/Malaysia2005/14 min)
To pay tribute to the new boom in Malaysian Tamil independent filmmaking, we present the first of two Tamil shorts. “Broken Wings” is an action-thriller melodrama in which one wayward youth reflects on the choices he has made, and their violent consequences. A hyper-kinetic movie that even has space for a Mano Maniam cameo.

3) 1,3,5 (Kit Ong/Malaysia/2005/10 min)
The first of three psychological shorts by Kit Ong (who might be the next big thing), this is the most experimental. A beautifully framed, dialogue-free triptych in which living beings hover around as ghostly specters … or it could be the other way around.

4) LINDA (Kit Ong/Malaysia/2005/8 min)
Ween sees Linda at a bus-stop and offers her a lift, saying they were at school together. Linda is not quite convinced but gets into Ween’s car anyway, the silly girl. A successfully restrained, blackly comic thriller that evokes early Polanski.

5) THE GIRL WHO CANNOT CRY (Kit Ong/Malaysia/2005/3 min)
Happiness is a little tear-drop.

6) ANNIVERSARY HAPPY (Justin Ong/Malaysia/2005/11 min)
Yuppie domestic drama, which seems utterly conventional until you notice something’s not quite right with the time scheme…

7) LIVING DEAD DOLLS (Siti Nuraishah Baharum/Malaysia/2005/2 min)
Dialogue-free sketch of a fat girl who is oppressed by the dominant values of normative heterosexism. Honey, tell us about it!

8. I DREAM OF THE FAT MAN (Mak Joon Keat/Malaysia/2005/4 min)
The only animation entry in our programme, this is a surreal odyssey with a self-explanatory title.

9) 28 HOURS LATER (Ng Ken Kin, 14 min)
Low-budget Malaysian DV meets big-budget British DV in this cheeky intertextual ride. A party-goer wakes up after a night of disco fun, only to find himself alone. Should he blame it on the boogie?

10) CHITAPPA (Kannan Thiagarajan/Malaysia/2005/15 min)
Raghu, a young web designer, seeks love on the Internet. This is how he meets Nisha. But a surprise awaits them. The first local Tamil romantic comedy short you have seen.

11) CROOK (Aaron Chung/Malaysia/2003/5 min)
The badass Rizal, posing as an anti-fried chicken crusader, thinks he’s found an easy mark when he chances upon a young girl. But who’s the baddest of them all?

12) BERNAFAS DALAM LUMPUR (James Lee/Malaysia/2005/18 min)
Azman (Azman Hassan), a photographer, likes the strong and quiet Lina (Mislina Mustaffa). But he knows they can’t be together. Lina’s heart is still with Meor (Mohammad Hariry), who has been in prison these last five years. Meor’s release is set to change the directions of all their lives. Will Meor’s meeting with his old partner in crime, Din (Nam Ron), resolve their unspoken tension?

GOOD LUCK .

dunno where to post

Hey guys this is just one of the ideas that Missy Idora asked me to blog.

The Big picture
The way I see it since the issue of the identity is so broad we can't really cover everything (but we can try eheh)

Solution : 3 in 1…and I am not talking about shampoo here.
Its sort of like a flexible kind of thing in a way it can be 3 separate plays or one big play depending on how you see it.
What I mean is that there will be 3 shorts as planned but we could do it sort of like a birth to maturity sort of thing
Ok to further elaborate (considering the fact that I get the feeling that there are some of you who are spacing out)

Small Picture 1 - Baby Steps - Area/Precinct
Area/Precinct means?
This would be on a smaller scale of life Malaysia. Preferably something intimate
Ie A play about family life or school etc.
My pick : Michael’s school idea or the funeral
The first short would be on a precinct/village level in the sense that it starts with a play about school in an area. It’s sort of the idea that schools in different places (be in it KL or Malaysia whatever) churns out different personality types (some more than others). We could deal with the international students, co-ed students, all boys/girls school.
Genre : Drama

Small Picture 2 - Younger Days - Metropolitan view
Metropolitan? (Metropolitan kinda reminds me of ice cream don’t you think so?)
Its more like this play would be about a city in Malaysia. I would presume that this play would be about KL considering the fact that the play would be staged in KL
My pick : Maybe the play could be Alice maybe not but it deals with people in the city ie KL, Penang etc. I think it would be interesting to get a perspective from a tourist point of view because well having someone else take a look at our way of life would be more of an eye opener la.Like how some foreigners find the food in Malaysia exotic etc etc or maybe a foreigner who now calls Malaysia home
In a way its sort of like a play that pokes fun at Malaysians but it could be surreal and dreamlike as Azhar mentioned.
Genre : comedy or a musical dance. I foresee loads of body movements instead of dialogues (if its surreal - Alice)

Small Picture 3 - Being old and wise – regional
Why so old?
This is where everyone grows up. No more play time and its time to think and acknowledge that just cause you don’t see it doesn’t mean its not there.
My pick : The Wall la
I kinda see this as a more serious play (cause its about the wall anything about a wall is always serious) maybe in a political sense (The Wall)
Here maybe we deal with heavy issues (ahem not heavy breathing/petting…never mind) I see that there are slightly more dialogue(y) as compared to the 2nd play and no more artsy fartsy stuff but more on play on light to create an impact as well as costumes
Ie everyone wears all white and the stage is divided into two but one side of the stage is lighted with red and the other green. (play with light la) so the thing is there isn’t an actual wall but it seems like they are divided because of the light. No more light they find out that everyone wears the same colour (why do I get the feeling that I am rambling here? hmm)
Genre : Serious with lots of focus on atmosphere

Ending
Everyone comes out to applause (and hopefully no one throws eggs or fruits though you would get an early breakfast with that) and

while everyone is clapping
The surprise the audience would get would be that we project a fast forwarded rewind of the nights performance with the night's overall reactions.

(Pro's we have a hard copy of the play to keep with us)
(Con's dunno if can film and then project it on the day itself)

Message ?

Its sort of like the idea that the audience is part of the play too because every night the audience’s reaction to the play would be different.

Sort of like saying you are Malaysian too or at least you have contributed to the colourful life of being a Malaysian (the tourist) Err its also sort of like telling the audience that this play is just a small part of being a Malaysian and the you are part of this mosaic of being a Malaysian

40 minutes delay

40 Minutes Delay

At the KLIA departure hall, the story revolves around 4 separate individuals that are leaving Malaysia, each having their own stories and unique situation of which due to the 40 minutes of flight delay, by fate have brought about changes in their decisions and their destiny.

Profile 1 : A young woman who is scheduled to fly back to Australia where her fiancé, an extremely rich man of great social stature whom unfortunately she does not love, but can offer everything in the world to her in terms of material wealth and an affluent lifestyle. The wedding of which has been arranged by both families awaits her return. Going deeper, during her stay in Malaysia, she has met another man, a free lance journalist that taught her more about life and love, passion and freedom of which she finds her true identity which she found comfort and self liberation. Her dilemma and her choice of her love pursuit takes a turn at the boarding room after she receives a phone call.

Profile 2 : Two men, partners in a high profile business venture have swindled their best friend’s share of the profit and decided to leave the country to start anew before being discovered. During their conversation in the waiting room, they realized that they have left out a small detail of which may completely turn the situation around and in that previous 40 minutes we see how they attempt to cover up the loophole. Did they finally manage to escape with the embezzled money?

Profile 3 : An old woman suffering from cancer spent her last 3 months in Malaysia with her grown up children and relatives and did her best to leave a mark in their lives before flying back to the U.S. Motivating and encouraging, financially and emotionally supporting them as best as she can, while concealing the fact that she had only another 8 weeks to live. She boldly decides to leave her loved ones with beautiful memories rather than to let them see her suffering, whilst she was physically dying inside but no one knew. The old woman happens to meet Profile 4 at the boarding room and we get to see how she has a hand in the destiny of the life of Profile 4 in their 40 minutes of conversation.

Profile 4 : A runaway teenager with problems of drug abuse, from a physically abusive relationship and bearing the child of an irresponsible college boy. Her depressed and helpless state inevitable led to her planning to take her life as she leaves her home country away from her parents of whom she does not want to confront due to shame and humiliation. Her planned suicide and lost of will to live takes a twist when Profile 3 shares her final journey that she has taken and the gift of life so precious to her. Will Profile 3 succeed in enlightening Profile 4 and help her resolve her issues giving her the strength to face her problems and overcome it?

4 lives, 40 minutes, what amazing twist of events as we watch them come to terms with themselves.

The new TIP blog

Oh yeah... forgot. Couldn't really sleep last night and was mulling over the stuff we went through. I thought Azhar brought up a really good point about keeping a milestone record of the TIP's evolution exclusively.

Since the Youth.Arm blog is really active with the constant postings, it's going to be irritating to keep finding the 1 post to comment on in relation to the TIP's once it gets archived, so, I created u guys a whole new blog just for the TIP's and I've put a link in on the YA blog for easy access. So just check your email's for the invites to it.

Do remember, only post and comments strictly in relation to the TIP's are to be posted on the new site.

*sniff*

miss ya'll already...

A little note

Dear YA's,

As u know, David will be taking a sabbatical for the month of March but he'll be back come April in time for the first Theatre-in-Progress (TIP). Michael n I will be MIA as well due to our exams in May. The both of us will be back in full force come 1st week June (end of May-ish in my case) though I will be around for dire emergencies and all the regular management stuff, so no worries there. Paik Yin will also be disappearing around April due to exams but Alia is scheduled to make a reappearance that the same month. Yay!

Anyway, I just want to say that I'm really happy with the progress u guys have made so far and I hope with the TIP will challenge and evolve u individually and as a group. The real tests are going to be in these TIP's kids. Focus, concentrate n give it your all. Thanks for all the effort u put in last night too.

Just don't drive Idora n Arif nuts in the process k... *grin*

Bangsar Shopping Centre, KL.

@ 6: 30 pm

THE BIG DURIAN (75 min)

On 18 October 1987, a soldier, Private Adam, ran amok with an M16 in
Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. Due to the thorny circumstances of the time and
place, his amok triggered a citywide panic and rumours of racial riots.
Why did he do it? Why were Malaysians so jittery at the time? And what
happened next? This docu-drama has screened in 22 film festivals
including Sundance 2004.
Malay, English, Cantonese and Hokkien with English subtitles.

Admission: RM10.

@ 8: 30 pm

THE YEAR OF LIVING VICARIOUSLY (63 min)
TOKYO MAGIC HOUR (60 min)

Two contrasting movies set abroad. The first is a socio-political
documentary around the making of an epic Indonesian film, "Gie", that takes
place during

that country's first direct presidential elections. The second is an
experimental romance between two men, narrated against digitally
manipulated imagery,

60 poems of love, and Hardesh Singh's edgy music. With the help of The
Nippon Foundation's API Fellowship.

FIELD TRIP: 2 COMPULSORY, 1 OPTIONAL

Hi guys,

Thank you for blogging such good ideas. And the discussions we had were absolutely golden. I’m so happy we're getting our ball(s) rolling!

Now for a side note: I got newsletter from TAS and there's a few things that I find useful for research purposes. As Arif mentioned to me before our session the other day, we need to see more stage plays. So I would like to make it compulsory for us to check the first item out:

Here’s the site:
http://www.theactorsstudio.com.my/shows.phtml#bangsar

ITEM 1

ITEM 2:
and there would be a donation screening of Amir Muhammad’s films, titles includes: THE BIG DURIAN (Ghafir is in this one! known to won numerous awards and a very 'Malaysian' story), TOKYO'S MAGIC HOUR and THE YEAR OF LIVING VICARIOUSLY another of his award winning films in festivals like in Rotterdam (I went to Berlin with the editor and sound designer. they told me it's worth watching!) the entrance fee is donation-based of minimum RM 10 each film I think. It is on the 13th march 6.30pm (the big durian) and 8pm (the other two). This could be really interesting to study for our story research that we will be doing.

Now the big durian is compulsory, the latter 2 is optional.

So anyone interested?
Pls let me know ASAP.

Thank you for your co-operation and let's keeps the spirits up.

Malaysian?Apa itu.

Hi hi thoughts seems to flow better early in the morning :P

The first thought that hit me when I found out about this assignment :

What does being a Malaysian means.

Funny how the first thought that pops in my head is
==> Malaysian = 3 main races Chinese, Malay + Indian but that is not true isn't it.

There seem to be a general theme going on about race. So here is my take on the issue of race and being Malaysian.

1. Race
There seems to be a general idea that when we think of being a Malaysian the three main races comes up, Malay, Chinese, Indian. I remembered meeting a Catholic Bidayu who is rather frustrated because people mistakes him for a Malay and dreads Puasa time (well I guess you would know why). Made me wonder about the people in Malaysia who were mix or not part of the 3 main races etc.

So what about a story about a character who is born Malaysia but his parents are Indonesian/Pilipino. He often gets mistaken as a Malay/chinese and he feels that he doesn’t fit in the scheme of things even though Malaysia is the only place he knows.
He studies in Malaysia but grows up in a village/neighbourhood where no one is Malay Chinese or Indian.

He goes on a journey to find out what being a Malaysian is all about.

Meets a Malay and ask him what is being Malaysian about
Malay man shows him nasi lemak?!?...

Meets a Chinese and ask him what is being Malaysian about
Chinese man shows paper hell money (the ones that they burn to the dead) etc

Meets Indian man
Indian man shows him the class system? (er blurring out here)

Meets the other races
the show him what being Malaysian is all about?

Ok I am bad at endings

(Character came about because I read in the papers that there are a vast number of Pilipino and Indonesian kids who are born in Malaysia. Kids were left behind by their parents because their parents were deported and the fact that these kids are born in Malaysia but they aren’t Malaysian but then again neither are they Pilipino/Indonesian...)

Alright excuse me for this rather weird boring post. Back to school mode is getting to me

Cultural melting pot

Here's a thought. It's probably occurred to u guys at some time but have you noticed that in Malaysia that interracial marriages are more complicated culturally. Eg. a Chinese n Indian union. It's a melting of 2 really strong cultures as opposed to say Dutch n Chinese... not to be brash but it's just a thought. I suppose that the Chinese Indian union wouldn't have happened if they weren't fairly liberal persons in the 1st place but the amalgamation and the balance... now that's interesting.

The commonality of this is really apparent in our generation... it's like the root culture has given birth to a whole other new culture. It's very much a global issue too I suppose. (note: record number of Asians moving to Australia n Europe.)

The Christian & karma...

Hey! Can we not call me cumi cumi dodo?!?! Man... Sums of all fear apparently. This is cuz I call u guys kids isn't it!?!

Anyway... got another idea. Well actually, I hate this idea, it totally disgusts me. But here's the story:

My mom has this really nice friend from her college days (started out as my dad's friend actually - wasn't sure if they went out, but nvm that). So this lady's Christian n has 2 boys. I wouldn't say she's a staunch Christian but she's not the type who's trying to convert u every hour. Really nice lady but she's in a horrid marriage.

So, sometime last month she comes to my house crying n stuff, saying she wanted a divorce. I thought it was about time! Her husband is a turd n he's even turned her boys against her. But my brilliant mother talked her out of getting a divorce! This poor woman has been living with god know what kind of verbal abuse and ill-treatment for the past 17 years n my mom gives her a 'religious' talk. She told her that since she's stuck it out all this while, what's the point in a divorce? And apparently, my mom also told this lady that if you get a divorce in this birth, the same thing o worse will happen to her in her next birth. This poor woman actually listened to my mom and isn't getting a divorce...

Ok... I'm kinda venting too. But I suppose this would be a interesting dialogue, something along what Ghafir suggested. Personally, I'm of the opinion that whatever religion says (not to be disrespectful - that's what makes me a bad Hindu), if your being denied an identity of your own and your being subjected to ill-treatment and abuse of any sort, it's not karma! It doesn't mean u have to suffer it out. I don't get where these ppl get these ideas... So let me know what u think.

From home

Salaam

How's everyone doing?

Good?

Good.

I just want to add some comments on the ideas that has been going around in this blog. Generally I think all of you are on the right track. Its good to tell a Malaysian story. The hard part now is to choose an idea incorporating all the ideas that are in this blog. I cant say which ideas are good and which are not. I can, on the other hand, suggest other ways for you to generate ideas first. Its great to be autobiographical. That is always the most sincere.

But some other suggestions for you to devise new ideas:

1/ read the list of questions that I gave during the writing session. i think it was posted on the front door of sspace.

2/ bring newspapers from today, yesterday and the past few months. get everyone to sit down and go through news that you feel strongly about and cut them out and put them on the wall. if possible, sort them out according to the themes. this is a good way to figure out what the group feels most strongly about.

I feel that some of the ideas are too complicated and stems from confusion. Stay simple guys - sorry to say but non of us are expert dramatist. Always write on somthing you know a lot about. If not, you better be willing to do a lot of research on the topic. I like the interracial ideas. It seems to be a running theme among all your ideas. But just put 2 people together and go from there. Try not to add too much complications. Complications comes naturally when you have 2 characters with 2 different objectives. maybe this is something you guys can do an improv on. just put two people, two objectives - put them in a place and see what happens. be open to what can happen.

But I urge you to consider Ariff's blog: He is being a little cryptic. We talked about identity before, and I think that's what YA should be about (correct me if I am wrong square). He asked us to examine who we are not who we are. I dont really understand this but its worth looking into. Dont try to dramatize too much. Dont try to be too 'oh my god' and 'arty'. You guys are arty enough. Go real and stay real. Ariff also brought the image of what happens in a rainy day. It could just be a great location for a series of shorts. What happens when u guys are caught in a rain?

I dont know if I make sense here. But this is my initial response on the ideas that has been going around. Also think of the performers that you have - always think of stories that uses the cast that YA has. Its hard to cast a 35 year old ex lover.

Alia - your premise is a little too confusing for me. What you might want to do is write down the sequence of events that goes on in your story. Now decide on who your central character is and what is her/his objective. With this character, trace backwards - beginning from the ending and go the beginning and see the sequence of events and whether it makes sense and are the motivations real for you to tell the story. Ask youself at the end - SO WHAT? Why do I HAVE to tell this story? Why should you care about this person? Even if she is supposed to be evil - audience has to care about the character. Read Shakespeare's Othello - see how Shakespeare made the "evil" Iago so lovable. I digress.

Michael - at the end of your story, you need to have an answer when someone asks - so what? why should i care? having a premise is step one but what is this banana boy's issue? why do we need to hear his story?

Azhar - great twistsssssss. I know you will always be different. Use that.

Thats what I can comment on right now. But all of you are on the right track. Make sure u guys argue and fight and not talk to each other. Make sure you guys want to choke each other - that means, you are doing it right. Make yourself heard!

I would strongly suggest you to go to the newspaper like I mentioned. It may not be a bad idea. What does Victor think? Segiempat? SumsSums? DoraDora?

All the best guys.

take care - stay sane

rose vs. puteri rosita ayu?

Morning ppl, it’s 7.51 am and I’m awake. Yes take pictures. Idora is up in the morning. Yeesh. Can’t sleep pass 6 am these days. Really feel like a mom. Bangun pagi settle kan the Ya's punya hal so they can ‘go to school’ either that or a maid. Hahaha.

Anyway, I reckon now it’s my turn to lay down an idea. Let me see if I can still do it. These chains are a little berkarat…hehehe ;)

Idea 1

Her name is Rosita Ayu. She’s a girl from mixed parentage. Some Caucasian with melayu. She born and bred overseas where in kindergarten, she was made fun as melayu perak! One day her father died (he’s the melayu) so since mom’s parents resents the marriage and consider her daughter a ‘traitor’ for converting to Islam, she has to go back to Malaysia. (Happens to be dying fathers dream, to bring up her daughter the melayu way) she bring her back to Malaysia and settled in a kampong, where the community labels the family as ‘rusa masuk kampung’

She is now 13. She enters a maktab yayasan school. Being so displaced coz she doesn’t speak Malay very well. She got boycotted and ragged till she was form 5. Being called name such as kafir because she don't know how to pray. She had some Chinese friends who never stayed long in that school. But they were the lucky ones that left. She has no choice but learn to survive there. Trying to learn the traits but since it was too hard, discouraged her from learning the culture, religion and language. She had a crush on a boy when she was 15. This boy who always wears a kopiah to school and always becomes the muazzin (I think this is another synonym of a bilal, a person who sing/reads out the azan before every collective prayers in the surau). Happens that he is the school’s golden boy. One of them at least. He is the only one that speaks to her in good English and smiles at her in class. She is attracted to him because not only he’s not ‘typically melayu’ like the rest there, but he respects her and has a friendly modern approach to religion rather than a strict approach that the school practices.

She is now 28. (I don't know where the scene takes place, u guys help me out) (I also don’t know how to do the scene but since this isn’t a script, ill leave it to you guys) she finally bumps into the golden boy who wears a bandana. He is an artist. (I don’t know…..something a Malay girl aspires to become……a doctor? A dentist? An engineer?) She speaks to him in broken Malay. She now more settled in her ways. She speaks sits down for kopi. They talked and flirted. They reminiscent together about school. eventually they both finds a lost attraction between them, where they resolve their own differences with the revelation they find in each other during the conversation.

Okay I don't have an ending as usual. But here how I see it: (I know I should talk treatment here….but I started a story thru character bio…so naturally I wou…ahhh! just bear with me k?) anyway,

first of all let me mention: this aint a love story. it's a story about resolving her issues through the movitation of a memory of teenage infatuation. like jigsaw puzzles theory: finding its missing piece.

I see it starts with her being 28, and then she flashes back to the memories. It has potential to be a modern musical (David, don't roll your eyes...) but no so big on dance…maybe slight movement. Just excerpts, not the cliché Broadway wannabes. We can make it very Broadway versus melayu if it works. Not the muhibbah. Can be satirical…I don't know. And, maybe her flashback could be her seeing her self in folklore (or during flashback, she daydreams of Malay folklores, coz that is what she reads or hears from her father for bedtime’s stories). Naturally she sees herself as PUTERI ROSITA AYU….that’s the TITLE!

i also like to say that my rendering of puteri rosita ayu was a little different. but a linked my character to most of your story's issues you guys blogged here. some things were very interestingly discussed.
issues: problems within a race, probs between races, different school produce different ppl (klans more like), lost or unknown indentity, morality issues, etc.

Woo hoo…..now I’m exhausted…but what do you think. I'm writing of my POV as a performer, director and producer. Please comments!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Victor can’t make it this week. He sends his love. He mentioned that he gave his reviews already so the rest is up to us. So we are jumping straight to term 2. Since we’ve been frozen 2 weeks before the evaluation, we’ll postpone the break 1-2 weeks from now. Sorry, but we have a MISSION!

idea idea idea

1. Artistic discussion on identity, in this case Malaysia as the medium of expressive statements. It's not to define nor to justify who are we as "who we are" NOW or BEFORE; it's whatever comes throughout the process.

2. What happens in the rain? Series of stories come out from different perspectives/person in the rain.

p/s-most of what gonna come on stage will be revealed during the process, and after having all the ideas from you guys.

Mystified Malaysian Funeral?

Man... U guys should give Idora an award for getting her way. She knows the best times to get me to agree with things (like when I'm about to sleep ). Anyways since her argument was that there's no Indian perspective to the whole ideas spewing thing, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I got to thinking; I'm not your conventional Indian (not necessarily proud of that) so how about something like this:

A very 'modern', n I use that term loosely, person (only child) who's from a very, VERY traditional family trying to grapple with all the intricacies of Indian culture n tradition when said person has to arrange for a traditional funeral for said persons dead parents?

Doesn't matter how they die o why. The point is, that said person has to perform the rights n things, deal with the extended family n that sort. To throw a spanner in the works, lets just say that all the ppl from said persons generation (ie. cousins n such) are all married to non Indians (ie. Chinese, Malay, Dutch... etc.). So said person ends up having no choice but to consult the elders (ie. aunts, uncles, great aunts... etc.) who all have differing opinions about what should be done, how, when n where, n are at 'war' with each other about it.

What would make this a total drama would be if said person's father was Indian n said person's mother was Ceylonese... ah - hah! That way not only will there be a inter clash of what rights to follow but also a bigger problem of should both parents get Indian rights o does the father get Indian rights n the mother Ceylonese rights?

Sums

screwed! improvised

well, this more or less the same story as my previous post only i'd figure it's better to be direct,straight-into-your-face kinda stuff. take your pick ppl!!

screwed!

scene: in an isolated room in an asylum. a girl stared into the blank space in front of her, emotionless. there's a distant yet crystal-clear voice saying, "you've hurt me so deeply & it's funny that you still have your daughter & wife with you. you've used me so much i felt isolated, perhaps alienated from everyone else, including my family. worse of all, you despised my circle of friends for what they are but you are no better yourself. you are no womaniser but you are the Dajjal yourself, using your so-called piousness to deceit the whole world, even women. you are a destroyer & i hope that God'll forgive you for all the sins you've done & the damage you've made. i'll never forgive you for what you've done to me & i pity your child & wife for having such a destructive father-husband to bear with throughout their lives."

the voice later becomes repetitive in teasing tones, annoying tones, angry tones, laughing tones, etc. then all the tones become jumbled up & the girl starts laughing, gradually into a hysterical laughter. as the tones fade away, the girl's laughter tone/pace changes from hysterical to sober and later on angry.

behind her, using a wayang kulit-like screen, images/shadows of the girl arguing with her boyfriend. again, the voice creeping in becoming more & more destructive as she later hit her boyfriend dead numerous times with a china vase.

screwed! (or should i call it sweet revenge?ur call ppl!)

description: a very typical gf vs bf scenario. after the break-up.

synopsis (or rather, a story of it):
the devastated gf finds out WHO her ex REALLY was - a 35 y.o. married man with a daughter, still with his wife from her newly declared godsister. she "met" the godsister via the yahoo! messenger & every damned secret is spilled like the fountain of youth to her after she called the godsister, who, online went undercover as her bf (complicated huh?).

dreams shattered (the ex had promised to marry her but somehow decided to use her fragility to satisfy his sexual thrist..>blimey! berapa bulan xdapat hah?!<). the godsister & the gf plotted a plan to teach the idiot a lesson he'll never forget. casually, the godsister invited her to a friendly bowling game. gf declined. later...on the bowling game day... godsister & ex happily playing a set or two games together when suddenly came gf to the alley. both were suprised that the gf ACTUALLY came for the game. the gf, all smiles & cheerful greeted the both of them & decided to join them for the games. it's the gf's turn. she calmly chooses a ball, estimated its weigh & walks towards the alley. seated at the score table, the ex & couple. gf, sort of absent-mindedly drops the ball onto the ex's foot (on purpose). ex started to howl in excruciating pain, cursing her - swearing to her of how cheap she was, etc. godsister stunned by the act but didn't do anything. gf, however kept her head cool despite her heart was raging like a mad wounded bull throughout the ex's cursing/swearing. ending? gf quoted,"you've hurt me so deeply & it's funny that you still have your daughter & wife with you. you've used me so much i felt isolated, perhaps alienated from everyone else, including my family. worse of all, you despised my circle of friends for what they are but you are no better yourself. you are no womaniser but you are the Dajjal yourself, using your so-called piousness to deceit the whole world, even women. you are a destroyer & i hope that God'll forgive you for all the sins you've done & the damage you've made. i'll never forgive you for what you've done to me & i pity your child & wife for having such a destructive father-husband to bear with throughout their lives."

with that, the gf & godsister left him in agonising pain, guilt & humiliation of his unforgiven sins.

it is i.

dear all,

this has been a long time coming. but i think most of you know by now - that i am taking a break from the YA meets 'cause i gotta concentrate on my exams. that's basically the crux of it lah. but don't worry - i will be involved wholly after JUNE 3rd. so you've not gotten rid of me yet! :)

anyway, with regards to this SHORTs thing. i got an idea. about a Banana Chinese boy - ie Yellow on outside but White inside. so it's about me lah. talking about funny childhood stories about when he was a kid about not being able to speak a word at all - but trying to mix with the Chinese kids. fr kindy to primary school...

then goes on to secondary school - freakin notorious one... how that same kid had to deal with Chinese Gangsters...(cause he became a prefect and stayed one for most of his school life)...then his experience of befriending this Indian dude(wayward child) who joined a Chinese gang(a bit ironic innit?) then how the gangs in school which started off as racially based...then when he turned 16 - the gangs becamse interacial. talks about how this happenned...

can also talk about how different PJ schools churns out different types of ppl. how KL schools are like a different world compared to PJ - heck even going to schools in Subang was different...and how INternational school students seem to be in a whole other world of their own...and how thts kinda sad since these kids are studying in m'sia and will be living here for an extended period but know nothing about m'sia.

er... i've been thinking about something like this for a while...original idea was to do a form of stand-up one lah. i havent really written anythin out tho. so yeah - just pitching something in...

btw - good LUCKS YA's! for the upcoming mr.Rey experience! i'll be there in spirit!

Kocha-kocha hota hai

MISSION NOT IMPOSSIBLE!!

Hi everyone,

I hope everything is fine and dandy. Thanks sums for highlighting our mission again. I have been unwell to blog anything. But here I am now:

Ok here what I need EVERYONE to do, either you busy or not, this time NO EXCUSES for not doing coz this is really simple:

Please write ideas of what to write for our production. We don’t want to do something only David writes but everyone as well. So everyone is COMPULSORY to contribute at least TWO ideas in either point form or in a synopsis form. Start getting all creative and write something that can be related to a Malaysian theme. So please do it! Your deadlines are on Thursday night 3rd March.

David, pls print the results of the ideas. We need to discuss it on Friday evening.

Thanks everyone.

Idora
