dear all,
this has been a long time coming. but i think most of you know by now - that i am taking a break from the YA meets 'cause i gotta concentrate on my exams. that's basically the crux of it lah. but don't worry - i will be involved wholly after JUNE 3rd. so you've not gotten rid of me yet! :)
anyway, with regards to this SHORTs thing. i got an idea. about a Banana Chinese boy - ie Yellow on outside but White inside. so it's about me lah. talking about funny childhood stories about when he was a kid about not being able to speak a word at all - but trying to mix with the Chinese kids. fr kindy to primary school...
then goes on to secondary school - freakin notorious one... how that same kid had to deal with Chinese Gangsters...(cause he became a prefect and stayed one for most of his school life)...then his experience of befriending this Indian dude(wayward child) who joined a Chinese gang(a bit ironic innit?) then how the gangs in school which started off as racially based...then when he turned 16 - the gangs becamse interacial. talks about how this happenned...
can also talk about how different PJ schools churns out different types of ppl. how KL schools are like a different world compared to PJ - heck even going to schools in Subang was different...and how INternational school students seem to be in a whole other world of their own...and how thts kinda sad since these kids are studying in m'sia and will be living here for an extended period but know nothing about m'sia.
er... i've been thinking about something like this for a while...original idea was to do a form of stand-up one lah. i havent really written anythin out tho. so yeah - just pitching something in...
btw - good LUCKS YA's! for the upcoming mr.Rey experience! i'll be there in spirit!

i like the banana idea. i think i've read something like this before, kan michael? i like to request, if it aint too personal for you to blog the full text that i read in the word document story u wrote...the neverending one. this would be useful to davod. pls blog it down though. ok?
ok one idea down...one more to go for you michael....try something new. something u've not written before. fresh in your mind that u want to explore...maybe something berkait with the issues ure going thru. i dont know.. u tell us..

A most excellent idea... the whole different schools producing very different types of ppl n personalities. I suppose I like it since I can sort of relate. It'd be real interesting if like one rep from each type of school are stuck in some isolated space o at dinner o something like that n their forced to reassess their... how do u say... opinions? Attitudes?
Personal story with a lot of drama, but i see some potential meandering. Second part definitely worth a look.
Good stuff: Issues of identity & alienation, again - class divide, gangsterism (?).
Bad stuff: Some resolution would be nice. Also, it's a little gender specific, maybe a little scope.
