1. Artistic discussion on identity, in this case Malaysia as the medium of expressive statements. It's not to define nor to justify who are we as "who we are" NOW or BEFORE; it's whatever comes throughout the process.
2. What happens in the rain? Series of stories come out from different perspectives/person in the rain.

I love it. But only if you tie it into the Asian cultures and values that we so dearly stand for (snigger). Also, there should be a contrast with some Western stories.

Actually, perhaps it is more prudent to replace Asia with Traditional and Western with Modern, labels applied Liberally.
As for no. 1, I know its what you like, Arif, and it may well be a good idea, though I am somewhat cautious of veering towards really arty farty stuff for the YAs' first production - from a completely commercial point of view of course - though I personally will stand for arty fartyness in theatre.
Akshen, a group under 5 Arts has a team of good writers for this genre of theatre, namely Mark Teh. May be an idea to get in touch with him and see whether he is willing to help you on this.
Keep it up people. I know I don't write or get in touch much, but I'm always, ALWAYS, watching. Supporting too. Of course.

anyway to comment:
1. this is what EVERYONE in malaysia is talking about. identity. can you narrow it down for us here? what do u mean about? the search? the conflicts? very archetypical for a malaysian issue.
2. this is more a directionlah sayang. can we think of a story that happens in the rain?
i like what u have written dont get em wrong. but it needs more elaboration before we can critique. but u have determine a premise to discuss or work on, but not solid enough. but as usual, i like ure second idea. tell me one idea i dont like from u...hehehhaehaheha
