The Christian & karma...
Hey! Can we not call me cumi cumi dodo?!?! Man... Sums of all fear apparently. This is cuz I call u guys kids isn't it!?!
Anyway... got another idea. Well actually, I hate this idea, it totally disgusts me. But here's the story:
My mom has this really nice friend from her college days (started out as my dad's friend actually - wasn't sure if they went out, but nvm that). So this lady's Christian n has 2 boys. I wouldn't say she's a staunch Christian but she's not the type who's trying to convert u every hour. Really nice lady but she's in a horrid marriage.
So, sometime last month she comes to my house crying n stuff, saying she wanted a divorce. I thought it was about time! Her husband is a turd n he's even turned her boys against her. But my brilliant mother talked her out of getting a divorce! This poor woman has been living with god know what kind of verbal abuse and ill-treatment for the past 17 years n my mom gives her a 'religious' talk. She told her that since she's stuck it out all this while, what's the point in a divorce? And apparently, my mom also told this lady that if you get a divorce in this birth, the same thing o worse will happen to her in her next birth. This poor woman actually listened to my mom and isn't getting a divorce...
Ok... I'm kinda venting too. But I suppose this would be a interesting dialogue, something along what Ghafir suggested. Personally, I'm of the opinion that whatever religion says (not to be disrespectful - that's what makes me a bad Hindu), if your being denied an identity of your own and your being subjected to ill-treatment and abuse of any sort, it's not karma! It doesn't mean u have to suffer it out. I don't get where these ppl get these ideas... So let me know what u think.
