Bumiku
Malay kid goes to Chinese School. (Oooh autobiographical!)
His/her best friend is Chinese.
After they finish SPM. Malay kid goes to UM. Chinese kid goes to Australia.
Malay kid longs to go overseas but he cannot get a scholarship/loan. (Is that possible? “Melayu mesti tolong Melayu kan?” It would be really funny if the Chinese kid says this.)
Chinese kid just misses Penang food. But his girlfriend is Australian.
One day. Chinese kid’s brother/sister dies in a car accident . Malay kid was the driver. Drama ensues.

oh my god!!! i love this stoy very...thum thum thum...like berdebar like that. im not joking. i really like this. very malaysian...high potensi of being malaysian.
again here are the questions: why stories asyik2 pasal melayu ngan cina? mana org india kita? tido? dgn adanya cerita sepet and all, are we tuned in stories between chinese and melayu hat we forget abt the indians. okies, if you notice, in the listings there is this 'malaysian' tamil movie called cheman chelaai, my friend's deepak's movie. very malaysian. if u like i will organize a field trip to watch this and sepet. not coz we wanna do a movie but so we could just understand STORY.
then again i thought abt it, maybe coz we dont have an indian amongst us, except sums. but never explore her stories. maybe we should i dunno. maybe i would get her to write something as well. hmmm...
as it is, it is a very good story. i very much like this.
hey guys, you all pls give comments as well. not just me. i know it's my job, but it's our production. whaddya all thnk abt all these ideas (david...i know u have something to say...) (arif...where are you lah?)
oh yea the title is a little 'cuti-cuti malaysia lah' but i can see how u relate it with your story. we can work on that. but seriously, why bumilu?
ps: i practice transparency in my comments. i hope you dont mind. i believe comments should be constructive (pls tell me it\f it's otherwise, im open to criticism as well...we all are building pourselves) and honest. not to say for the sake of saying. so let's practice this way ok? coz we have 3 mnths no time for sugar coats...not good oso, can develop 'diabetes.
bumiku! sorry...apalah bumiLU hahahhaha...but hey that can work too
Nice story.
Good stuff: Very local, very interesting story. Deals with racial issues, issues of class and culture.
Bad stuff: Where does it go? The story seems to meander and i predict the conflict to degenerate into repressed jealousy which doesn't hold any appeal to me.
Suggestions: Keep the education by class issue. Great plot.
I do not know many Indian people. Perhaps the Indian guy could be a Narrator. I think it would be good if the Indian tells his side of the story which perhaps is how Indian Malaysians view themselves. Yup, lets ask the Sums of all Fear.
